AREA MANAGER - Save the Children, Uganda

Save the Children seeks to fill the following vacant positions and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced Persons.
JOB TITLE AREA MANAGER (04 POSITIONS)
DUTY STATION: CENTRAL, NORTHERN, WESTERN AND NORTH EAST REGIONS
Job Purpose:
As a member of the Extended Senior Management Team, the Area Manager shares in the overall responsibility for the direction and coordination of the Regional Office. The Area Manager in his/her capacity is responsible for Implementation of all programming in the region, including the management of all sub offices, emergency preparedness and response (including DRR), and logistics for the region. This position reports to the Director of Program Operations.

Requirement:

  • Bachelors' Degree in any relevant field. A Post Graduate training in Project Management, Community Development will be an added advantage with a Masters degree in any relevant field
  • At least 8 years progressive experience in programme implementation with at least 5 of those years in a middle management position in an NGO.
  • Thorough understanding of national poverty alleviation strategies as well as current national and international trends in to global poverty and development.
  • Specifically familiarity with child rights issues in the NGO world or work with a thorough knowledge of the quality programme development and the Child Protection Code of Conduct.
  • Strong financial, planning and budget management skills and experience.

  • Computer literacy skills - MS Office applications, word, excel, PowerPoint, Spread sheets
  • Policy development and analytical skills

  • Availability and willingness to work extra hours during times of humanitarian responses.
