Jamii Social Business Center (JSBC) builds and finances community social businesses in Tanzania. Social Business is not a charity and JSBC is not an NGO. We are looking for a full-time and qualified Project Manager who is willing to work out of the Babati office in Babati, Manyara Region. **
*TITLE:* Project Manager
*RESPONSIBLE TO:* Managing Director
The primary responsibility of the Project Manager is to work with the community to design and implement social business. This includes the
design and implementation of projects based around local skills and resources. Many projects are oriented around agriculture and livestock, so
experience with farming and animal husbandry is also a plus.
The Project Manager will also be tasked with the management of all related activities, including monitoring and reporting until the social business has become sustainable. Skills or experience in microfinance and business are also a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities
§ Assist participants to develop business skills, create profitable business projects (Income Generating Activities/ IGAs) and to tap every
aspect of the value chain
§ Oversee and support IGA projects while also empowering and creating ownership
§ Supervise client selection, loan disbursement and monitoring
§ Meet program goals around loan repayment - as per the JSBC business plan
§ Assure proper records are kept at all levels
§ Act as a liaison between the office and individuals, partners and local
authorities
§ Carry out planning draft reports and contracts
§ Monitor budgets and program deliverables
§ Empower communities to quickly grasp and own the projects
Required Qualifications
§ Willing to live in Babati and work in rural areas (must be based in Babati Mon-Fri)
§ Honesty and integrity
§ Minimum five years practical experience in microfinance or business-related projects at the village level
§ Bachelor's degree required; master's degree in Business Administration,Economics, or Finance or Agriculture preferred
§ Confidence, enthusiasm and experience working with rural communities
§ A team Player, able to avoid politics and power struggles
§ A progressive thinker, passionate leader and able to conceptualize and
plan
§ Excellent social skills (community mobilization, public speaking,leading meetings)
§ Proficient computer skills (MS Word/Excel/PPT)
§ Strong writing and editing skills in English and Swahili
§ Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
§ Flexible and willing to work with people with all backgrounds and skills
§ Skilled in M&E
§ Valid driver's license and experienced driver
