Regional BIAAG Campaigns Coordinator in Kenya


Under the supervision of Regional Gender Equality Programme Specialist, the Regional BIAAG (Because I am A Girl) Campaign Coordinator will lead in coordinating campaigns addressing the rights and needs of children in the Region of Eastern and Southern Africa. The role will ensure management of successful development and implementation of campaign projects and activities to agreed targets and objectives. H/She will contribute to global learning and initiatives aimed at strengthening global campaigns within the wider organization, promoting Plan's Global Campaign in the region i.e. Because I am a Girl (BIAAG), and supporting the mainstreaming of the previous campaigns i.e. Learn Without Fear (LWF) & Count Every Child (UBR)

This is a (3) three years' fixed term contract which will be on Grade D2 of Plan's pay policy.
Dimensions of Role: • Delivery of integrated campaign strategies across the region, countries, Pan African Advocacy Office and WARO partnership. • Reporting regularly to the Regional Gender Equality Programme Specialist the progress and challenges facing campaigns in the region. • Technical oversight and support to Country Programmes in designing, implementing, evaluating and resourcing campaign initiatives. • Develops and oversees execution of regional office campaigns budget estimated at ($300,000). • Propose practical; methods for achieving the overall goal of the Plan's Global Campaigns in RESA. • Supports the implementation of Plan's Strategy on Gender Equality.

Main responsibilities: • Strategic planning and delivery of Plan's global campaign program by forseeing full projects development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of Plan's global campaigns • Provides overall guidance and leadership to the three campaign projects in areas of programs, communications and advocacy strategies. • Support global campaigns with evidence based advocacy • Build consortium and networks that support advocacy and campaigns objectives. • Resource mobilization • Develops and oversees execution of regional office campaign budget.

Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours Required to Achieve Role's Objectives
Knowledge: Demonstrable knowledge in Campaigns or relavant degree qualification with 3- 5 years working experience. An understanding of International Human Rights Instruments and Declarations including the Millenium Declarations and the UN Declaration of Human Rights and the subsequent conventions including CRC & CEDAW. Working experience of international development and gender/girl child rights issues, extensive networking experience with UN agencies, CSO, Private sector, media donor. Skills: Ability to design campaign strategies based on sound policy and program practice, project management, project management, Negotiation, Problem solving, Strategic thinking, Analytical, Time management, team building, facilitation and presentation.
