Position Description:
PURPOSE: Monitoring and reporting of risk related to Treasury Business.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Advise management on cause and potential impact of the observed change in NBC Interest and foreign Exchange Daily value at risk (DVaR).
• Monitor breaches in DVaR limits and manage the reporting of the breaches to Management, ABSA Africa Market Risk and other applicable levels.
• Review and sign-off the daily and monthly DVaR calculable as prepared by Middle Officer Team.
• Analyze and provide DVaR projections and trend given different market conditions or/and management decisions.
• Determine report and recommend to Management various Interest Rate and foreign Exchange Rate related issues that may impact NBC DVaR and market risk profile in general.
• Provide analysis and opinion to management on NBC Liquidity Risk.
• Review and sign-off daily liquidity reports that goes to the liquidity committee as prepared by Market Risk Team
• Review and sign-off Liquidity Mismatch Reports.
• Monitor and manage the reporting of Breaches on Medium Term mismatch guideline and manage the reporting of breaches on Medium Term Mismatch guidelines and other group liquidity Requirements.
• Develop annual ALCO schedules.
• Manage the process of identification and reporting of Currency open position limit breaches.
• Lead the investigation of big unreconciled variances
• Manage the Market Risk Team to ensure effective daily operations
• Track utilization of Inter-Bank Counterpart Limits
• Review and recommend on Market Risk for New Product Proposals

• A very good understanding of Principles of liquidity, Interest Rate and foreign Exchange risk management
• Good understanding of bank Regulatory Requirements
• Basis Understanding of Accounting and financial reporting
• Analytical skills
• Leadership skills
QUALIFICATION
• A BCom Degree or equivalent • ACI Operations Certificate
Experience
2 years in Bank Treasury, Finance or risk management functions.
