The Security Manager – Somalia will develop and implement staff safety and management procedures for World Vision Somalia. You will gather and analyse information about the operating environment in Somalia, present regular updates and analyses to stakeholders, and advise the Program Director on operating conditions in Somalia. You will also collaborate with other humanitarian security bodies and personnel to collect and share information.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
• To collect and collate regular security updates from the field sites and other sources and prepare monthly reports and quarterly security analyses for WV Somalia management and WVI Office of Corporate Security (OCS).
• To manage security "project" budgets, including preparing reports (with support from the Program Design Unit and Finance Departments)
• Responsible for initiating and carrying out risk assessment in the country.
• Develop a security-training plan and implement, providing training to national and international staff.
• Establish networks with other NGO's and UN agencies regarding security and establish an information exchange network.
REQUIRED SKILLS INCLUDE:
• Confirmed employment of the security manager is contingent on him/her passing the Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) training course within 90 days of employment.
• Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Law, Security Management or in a related field
• Strategic and managerial experience of minimum 2 years working with UN Agencies or NGO field security experience.
• Radio and/or Satellite phone communications experience, operations and management.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and delivering security training.
• Ability to communicate well in English (verbal and written) – particularly in a crisis situation
