- Purpose of the Post
Under the overall supervision of the Chief Education, Uganda, the Education Specialist will be responsible for planning, implementing, monitoring and ensuring the quality of the Netherlands funded "Peacebuilding, Advocacy and Education" programme.
- Major Duties and Responsibilities
• Manage the "Peacebuilding, Advocacy and Education" programme. This programme involves the implementation of a number of key programme areas, including youth, Early Childhood Development (ECD), quality, community engagement and research.
• Manage the implementation of all key strategic programme areas and activities and to take on responsibility for monitoring and evaluation of the "peacebuilding and education" programme activities, which will require regular field visits and recommend action for adjustments where necessary to ensure quality of programme activities and alignment with Country Programme (CP) and Country Programme Action Plan (CPAP). Collaborate with Local Government and district education officials and civil society partners.
• Manage the Peacebuilding fund and responsible for following up on accountability.
• Provide technical support to Education in Emergencies (EiE) and disaster risk reduction activities in the CPAP. Support Forum for Education NGOs (FENU) in their new role as education cluster lead.
• Advocate for funding opportunities to support Keep Children Learning (KCL) peacebuilding and education activities; write proposals with KCL team.
• Provide timely, gender disaggregated data and information updates on the status of the 'peacebuilding, advocacy and education' programme activities as contribution towards preparation of programme/project status reports required for Management Board, donors, budget review, programme analysis, annual reports, Consolidated Appeal Process (CAP) reports etc.

Education: Advanced University Degree in Education, Social Sciences or any other field of relevance.
Work Experience: Five (5) years of responsible professional work experience at national and international levels in education and education programme management, monitoring and evaluation. Experience of education and peacebuilding an advantage.
