The purpose of this message is to give you advance notice about an exciting seminar that will be taking place at the Gender Resource Centre/TGNP, Mabibo [off of Morogoro Road], on 21st March 2012 at 1500-1700, entitled
Will AGRA Squeeze African Family Farmers to Death?
Lessons from Small-scale Intensive Rice Production in the Senegal River Valley
The presentation will be made in English by Dr Jeanne Koopman, Research Fellow at Boston University, with simultaneous translation into Kiswahili, based on work she has been carrying out for a long time with smallscale farmers in Senegal. The paper explores the impact of AGRA policies on small family farmers and the actions/demands of farmer cooperatives.
We expect the discussion which follows to explore the implications of the issues raised for agriculture in Tanzania, given the growing importance of Kilimo Kwanza, AGRA, SAGCOT and other agribusiness ventures.
Please help us to share this information with as many people as possible. GDSS seminars are open to the public.
For further information, please contact Anna Sangai at TGNP anna.sangai@tgnp.org [0754 362373] who is in charge of GDSS.
