Each year millions of people around the world are affected by natural disaster and conflict. RedR is the leading training and recruitment charity working in the area of international disaster relief. We provide training, consultancy and support to relief organisations and their staff around the world, improving emergency response and assisting people affected by disaster. Through building skills and training people in countries where disasters occur, we make a lasting impact on the ground. We recruit experienced relief workers following major global emergencies and advise potential new relief workers, ensuring skilled professionals are always available to respond.
In response to recent humanitarian catastrophes, we currently have training and local capacity building programmes in South Sudan in response to the increasing destabilisation of the region and in Pakistan, addressing the ongoing challenges of efficient response to the current humanitarian situation relating to flooding and insecurity.
Background
RedR UK received funding and has now established a country programme in South Sudan (Juba based) which is delivering a number of training events to NGO staff, partner organizations and other relevant humanitarian actors. RedR trainings focus on Security, Humanitarian Practice, Technical Training, Management and Coordination.
Job Description
The list does not cover the full scope of tasks and responsibilities of the Office IT and Technology Coordinator but serves to illustrate some of the areas of emphasis for the post.
The Office IT and Technology Coordinator (OITC) is directly responsible for the efficient running of all IT and Technological connections in the RedR office – IT software and hardware, Telephone systems, Radio handsets etc. The post holder must have vast knowledge and experience in IT management with a demonstrated track record of implementing, administering and training staff in IT and office technology usage.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Responsible for overall information technology systems in Juba offices ensuring functional work stations for all staff members;
• In liaison with the Regional IT Officer, maintain and update the network, system and software; implement internal IT policies and guide users about appropriate usage of equipment and relevant software;
• Arrange timely replacement of hardware and periodically check equipment for smooth operation;
• Maintain proper documentation of IT inventory & network;
• Install and manage radio VHF and UHF system as required;
• Ensure timely backup of user's data and emails;
• Provide IT support to all users and update all systems requirements;
• Assist Trainers in arranging/ using IT / Computer equipment for the training;
• Assist in development and rolling out new software for departments;
• Ensure installation and updating of firewalls and antivirus on systems;
• Manage and update the MIS of Redr South Sudan;
• Provide technical support to the Communications and Marketing officer in website development, social networking and other new media;
• Any other duties as requested
Person Specification
Essential
• Graduate in Computer Science / Information Technology
• 2 years practical experience including experience of radio systems
• Well conversant with internet environments running TCP/IP on wired and wireless networks
• Installation & troubleshooting of hardware and software
• Working knowledge of Windows XP, Windows Server 2003,Office 2003/2007
• Must have good interpersonal communication skills including written and spoken English.
• Strong inter-personal skills.
