FAO Somalia ICT ASSISTANTS


Under the overall supervision of the FAO Somalia Officer In Charge, the Administrative direction of the Field Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the FAO Somalia ICT Manager the incumbent will perform the following duties:

As part of the FAO Somalia Help Desk Team; the ICT Field Assistant will:
• Maintain, protect and update as necessary ICT hardware under responsibility (laptops, desktops, modems, etc) and, all hardware configurations to ensure optimum operations for all staff and offices assigned • Ensure day-to-day that all software resources are in working order and liaise with relevant department to ensure upgrades and patches are applied regularly • Ensure day-to-day functionality of all computing resources are in working order and liaise with administration to ensure accessories and consumables are available for timely replacement • Upgrade application software to ensure highest productivity and troubleshoot and resolve software problems and assist FAO staff to customize and automate routine tasks. • make first-hand visits to staff and provide support as necessary; • Monitor, troubleshoot and resolve internet/e-mail connection connectivity problems and upgrade network hardware and software to ensure utmost productivity. • Support development, testing, error checking and deployment of in-house software and external applications • Carry out regular data backup on client and server machines. • ICT support for all CFW activities in assigned locations • Perform other related duties as required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should meet the following:
• Degree or Diploma in ICT, Computer Science is required. • Two years of IT support experience . • Working knowledge (level C) of English and working knowledge of the most widely used local language. Somalia language is a must.

SELECTION CRITERIA
Candidates will be assessed against the following:
• Demonstrated skills in IT Support. • Extent of knowledge in Computer Skills. • Extent of both oral and written communication skills, including ability to write reports. • Accuracy and excellent attention to details. • Good judgment and ability to organize office work and prepare correspondence on own initiative. • Willingness to work as a team member. • Good knowledge of the UN work system or equivalent complex organization. • Ability to work effectively with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.
