Background:
DAI is looking to work in Ethiopia to support economic growth by developing the private sector to create a business enabling environment which will help industries have access to both credit and finance. The objective is to create jobs whilst promoting green growth. A large emphasis will be supporting women and children in the marketplace. We will seek to address many issues which face Ethiopia and will look to strengthen exports, product diversification, competitiveness, productivity. In addition, we will focus on working with banks to build their capacity to provide loans and credit to emerging businesses.

Skills
- Broad based financial sector expert
- Experience of engaging with central government and policy makers on high-level issues (Ministry of Finance, Central Bank, parliamentary sub-committees)
- Experience working as a bank manager either in lending or relevant supporting functions related to increasingly access to finance (e.g. risk management)
- Developed bank strategies and business plans and desirably with SME banking focus/component.
- Contributing to efforts in meeting donor reporting requirements as well as reporting to DAI Europe home office
Experience
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in international development, with at least 10 years in senior management positions in the field or equivalent
- Proven Team Leader/COP on large financial sector projects, maintaining high level relationships with relevant counterparts
- Masters in Business or related area
- Extensive experience working with the government agencies engaged in financial sector reform for greater financial inclusion, including access to finance for unbanked and under-banked
- Capacity building of financial institutions to target micro and SME market segments, desirably in the rural and agricultural market segments
- Ethiopia/SSA experience
- Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential
- Fluency in Amharic would be an advantage
