African Initiatives for Relief and Development (AIRD), is a
non-political, non-religious and non-profit making African
Non-governmental organization, established in 2006 with it's Head
Office in Kampala, Uganda.

To see Africa that is free from poverty, internal displacement and
refugees; a continent whose people are enjoying human dignity, gender
equality, peace and democracy; a region that is capable of protecting
the environment that nature had endowed to it and whose leaders are
accountable to and working for their people. Our Mission
To inspire and involve concerned citizens of the international
communities and African professionals in relief and development
programs to make meaningful contributions towards the development of
Africa for the complete eradication of poverty; ensure the protection
and assist in seeking durable solution for IDP's and Refugees; promote
human dignity and equity and achieve peace, democracy and
environmental sustainability in Africa in particular and the world at
large.
Our objectives
To improve the living conditions of refugees, Internally Displaced
Persons (IDPs) and host communities. To make use of synergy effects
that result from combining the respective aid instruments and To
maximize effectiveness in significantly improving the situation of
refugees in African countries. To promote protection and seek durable
solutions for refugees and IDPs in Africa in partnership with key
stakeholders as well as build capacity at grass root level.
Responsibilties
• Ensure systematic and periodic stock control. Analyze if there are
discrepancies between theoretical stock and physical stock. If there
is, report to the management with the possible reasons for such a
case. This should be done on a monthly basis and in the presence of
UNHCR staff for transparency. • Ensure the proper installation and
functionality of fuel stations / infrastructures. This includes the
installation of pumps and calibration of tanks. • Ensure that all fuel
stations are secured against fire by installing fire extinguishers. •
Ensure that day-to-day data entry is made in the Fuel System and
reconciliation with the daily report is conducted. • Ensure that the
fuel consumption of all assets is recorded, closely monitored by
analyzing reports generated from the system. In case there is any
overconsumption, report to the management for the proper action. •
Supervise, coach, support and lead all warehouses in the country in
close collaboration with sub office and field office heads. •
Supervise, monitor and coordinate movements of articles in each
warehouse across the country. • Ensure all stock movements are
authorized by UNHCR and proper update of stock card, bin cards and
warehouse system is adhered as per the UNHCR rules and regulations. •
Ensure all receptions are supported by proper documentation and update
of stock card, bin card and warehouse system is maintained. • Ensure
that goods received are properly counted and any discrepancy is
reported immediately to UNHCR supply section. • Ensure the proper
pilling / storage / cleaning of the store according to each reference
specific requirements. • Establish and maintain proper filing system
for all relevant documents related to warehouses. • Produce weekly
stock movement report and share with UNHCR and CMT. • Produce monthly
consolidated stock movement report. • Conduct inventory of all
warehouse on a monthly basis jointly with UNHCR Supply Section and
make sure that the inventory report is counter-signed by UNHCR.
Qualification & Experience • 6-8 years of international experience
with INGO in warehouse and fuel management, within a complex/large
scale country programme and in emergency response/humanitarian
environments.
• Substantial experience in all technical areas of logistics
operations including procurement, transport/distribution, warehousing
and stock management, fleet management, asset management,
communications, and security . • Experience of developing /
implementing a complex international supply chain to support different
types of programmes, and coordinating resources to meet the programme
objectives • Experience of working in remote field bases with limited
infrastructure. • Ability to synthesise and analyse complex
information, and make clear, informed decisions. • Ability to build
relationships quickly with a wide range of people, both internally and
externally. • Excellent planning, management and coordination skills,
with the ability to organise a substantial workload comprised of
complex, diverse tasks and responsibilities. • Strong communication
(written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English/French, with
experience in managing multicultural teams. • Technical
experience/training in specific areas of fuel management and
warehousing • Fluent in English and French (mandatory)
