Bank of Tanzania (BOT); Tanzania Mortgage Refinance Co. Ltd (TMRC) and African Union for Housing Finance (AUHF) have jointly organized an International Conference on “Growing Housing Opportunities in Africa” to be held in Dar es Salaam from 8th to 10th October 2012 at the Bank of Tanzania Conference Centre.
The conference aims at developing the interest of property developers who are crucial for the success of the little known but highly desirable mortgage market in Tanzania.
The conference will address several issues including bringing housing investment into economic development, the role of Mortgage Liquidity Facilities in housing finance and alternative housing (building?) materials. Other issues will focus on the construction of low cost houses and housing microfinance.
In addition, the conference will also address the housing needs of low income people as well as the growing housing opportunities in Africa.
Opening Remarks will be delivered by Minister for Lands, Housing and Settlement Development Prof. Anna Tibaijuka while keynote speaker will be Dr Paul Collier, from Centre for Studies in African Economies, Oxford University, UK.
Other speakers will be from World Bank, African Union for Housing Finance (AUHF), Mortgage Liquidity Facility providers and Primary mortgage lenders.
The conference will also have exhibitions running concurrently to show the various services offered in the housing sector. Exhibitors will include commercial banks offering mortgage services and companies with low cost housing materials.
