Manchester United have set their sights on raiding Bayern Munich and will try to lure Arjen Robben and Bastian Schweinsteiger.
United have a long list of transfer targets as they attempt to get back into the Champions League and will test the German title winners' resolve with big-money offers for their stars.
It is understood incoming United manager Louis van Gaal prefers Schweinsteiger to German team mate Toni Kroos and despite his denials, Robben could also be lured to Old Trafford after the World Cup.
Holland boss Van Gaal doesn’t have to go too far to talk to Robben about the move, of course.
And any switch would mean Wayne Rooney possibly being a peripheral player at United next season – and having to look elsewhere for regular football.
Tottenham believe Lallana is the Spur of the moment
Tottenham believe they can capture Adam Lallana after the World Cup.
Liverpool had made a move for the England midfielder before he left for Brazil But it hit the buffers and have since made moves to lure Adam Johnson from Sunderland.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is now hoping new boss Maurico Pochettino, formely of Southampton, will have the sway to see Lallana and possibly Jay Rodriguez move to White Hart Lane.
Bergkamp in line to fill Brooking's shoes at FA
The FA are now seeking a new ‘technical director’ following the decision of Sir Trevor Brooking to retire after the World Cup.
I understand one candidate is former Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp.
Lampard the loan Ranger... if he moves to New York
Should Frank Lampard finalise a deal with new MLS team New York City, he could then agree a loan deal with QPR for the first phase of the PL season.
Rangers boss Harry Redknapp is also keen on taking on Rio Ferdinand - who last week turned down a move to Aston Villa - and possibly Michael Carrick from Manchester United in what could be termed ‘West Ham re-United’.
That could be taken even further, as Redknapp would also like Jermain Defoe on loan during the MLS off season.
Free agent Ashley Cole is also on the Rangers radar.
Sitting midfielder: Frank Lampard could move on loan to QPR should he sign for MLS side New York City
Stop Press
Suggestions that Didier Drogba might return to Chelsea seemed to have been quashed.
It looks like Ivory Coast striker Drogba, who is leaving, Galatasray will sign a deal with Juventus.
I am hearing
That former Manchester United chief executive David Gill could emerge as a contender to become the new president of UEFA if current supremo Michel Platini challenges FIFA top dog Sepp Blatter, as he will.
I am also hearing
Atletico Madrid want to take Fernando Torres back to Spain when Diego Costa’s £32million move to Chelsea, long mentioned here, is rubber stamped.
