Country Director - HelpAge International, Uganda


HelpAge International is a global network of not-for-profit organisations with a vision of a world where older people fulfil their potential to lead active, dignified, healthy and secure lives. HelpAge has been working in Uganda since the early 90s with its affiliate Uganda Reach the Aged Association (URAA), which is an umbrella of over 60 age-care organisations across the country. URAA's programmes are concentrated in Central (Kayunga, Kampala, Luwero and Wakiso), East (Kamuli, Iganga and Jinga) South West (Rwenzori region) (Kasese and Bundibugyo), and West in Hoima district.
HelpAge International seeks to recruit a Country Director who will be responsible for the development, management and administration of Uganda Programme and promoting development of a national capacity to meet the needs of older people.

Requirement:

  • The successful candidate will have a degree in social sciences or related field, at least five years experience in managing a country programme, experience in developing project proposals, excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and numerical skills, ability to manage staff from a distance, adhere to tight deadlines as well as building staff and partners capacity
  • Experience in ageing issues will be an added advantage.
