Challenge Fund Manager- Ethiopia Private Sector Development

Background:
DAI is looking to work in Ethiopia to support economic growth by developing the private sector to create a business enabling environment which will help industries have access to both credit and finance. The objective is to create jobs whilst promoting green growth. A large emphasis will be supporting women and children in the marketplace. We will seek to address many issues which face Ethiopia and will look to strengthen exports, product diversification, competitiveness, productivity. In addition, we will focus on working with banks to build their capacity to provide loans and credit to emerging businesses.

 Skills
  • Establishing robust and transparent grants procedures in line with donor guidelines
  • Managing day-to-day operations of Challenge Funds
  • Ensuring wide publication of proposal/bidding calls
  • Assessing financial and administrative capacity of grantees and training and coaching grantees to enhance their capacity in these areas
  • Contributing to efforts in meeting donor reporting requirements as well as reporting to DAI Europe home office
  • Tracking and documenting the overall monthly programme burn rates and estimated pipeline needs
Experience
  • 7 or more years of experience working with the business community in a developing country context
  • Experience in managing grants programs
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential
  • Fluency in Amheric would be an advantage
