Who we are

Oxfam is an International NGO working with others to find lasting solutions to

poverty and suffering in Tanzania and more than 80 other countries

worldwide. In Tanzania Oxfam is working in Shinyanga, Dodoma, Morogoro,

Tanga, manyara and Arusha to implement three change goals that have been

identified in the country strategy for 2010/2015, namely Economic Justice -

Rural Livelihoods (including smallholder, pastoralist and women's livelihoods),

Gender Justice – equality for women and Social Justice centred in active

citizenship and effective governance for quality essential services.

We are currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable Gender

programme Coordinator to enhance the impact of our work in Tanzania.

The role

Reporting to Country Director, the person will be responsible for the

management and development of Oxfam's gender justice strategy to achieve

an end to violence against women; promotion of transformative women's

leadership and economic empowerment. You will ensure internal coherence of

the gender justice strategy and its alignment with the overall Oxfam

programmes in Tanzania. Develop and manage appropriate advocacy and

campaigning strategies including a clear change message, partner and alliance

mapping and comprehensive power analysis. Develop a funding framework

for the strategy and programme that includes financial contributions from

different affiliates and identifies gaps where additional funding is needed.

Promote gender justice strategy among Oxfam staff and partners to ensure

comprehensive support and ownership including gender skills development

and where necessary attitude changes of partners and Oxfam staff. Build and

strengthen linkage between Oxfam partners and affiliates and key

stakeholders Tanzania such as CSOs, Government ministries and international

donors.

The person

A candidate envisaged for this role will hold a university degree or equivalent

qualification in gender studies, development studies or social sciences. 3

years relevant experience in the development and management of gender

equality strategies and programmes at regional or national level including

Strategic planning and management, Mainstreaming approaches, Monitoring,

evaluating and learning, Budgeting and financial management . Experience in

the provision of capacity building support to partner NGOs and CSOs.

We are currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable Human Resources

Manager to enhance the impact of our work in Tanzania.

The role

Reporting to Associate Country Director, the successful candidate will lead on

the development and coordination and implementation of the people strategy

for Tanzania. Engage in programme strategy development with the view of

helping programme and senior managers identify the people implications of

the strategy. Foster good standards of HR practice in the Tanzania

programme, effectively documenting and communicating those standards to

staff members who need to know them and monitoring HR practice against

organisational standards.

Be responsible for the effective implementation and development of the full

suite of HR practices according to best practice and legal obligations;

including, recruitment, selection, reward management, health and safety,

diversity, employee relations, change management and learning and

development. Ensure that the HIV/AIDS workplace policy is appropriately

implemented across the country programme and Provide Health and Safety

advice and to proactively carry out risk assessments, including issues around

staff health and welfare.

The person

A candidate envisaged for this role will hold a full professional qualification in

Human Resource Management and substantial HR experience with full

knowledge of Employment Law and HR Policies/Best practice. Ability to

reflect and effect a gender and diversity sensitive human resources policy and

systematic in approach with good attention to detail. Computer skills .track

record of consistent personal achievement at both an operational and

strategic level in different contexts and with diverse teams, including in the

international environment. Ability to provide a strategic and business partner

support to the country teams that demonstrates knowledge of the business,

HR expertise, and personal credibility and as a change agent.

Women's Land Rights Advocacy Officer

Women's land Rights Advocacy Officer

Location: Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

Contract Type: One (1) year fixed terms

We are currently looking for a dynamic and knowledgeable Women's Land

Rights Advocacy Officer to enhance the impact of our work in Tanzania.

The role

Reporting to Economic Justice Campaign Manager, the person will lead and

engage with civil society and government stakeholders and contribute to

increasing public awareness of the need to strengthen women's land and

property rights.Ensure implementation of the Advancing Women's land and

Property Rights in East Africa Project. Put in place the key elements needed

for a broader alliance campaign to advance women's land and property rights

such as agreement amongst the key allies, clarity on what needs to e done to

improve women's land and property rights and a plan of action for its

achievement. Link Country Oxfam programme campaigns, Regional Oxfam

grow campaign, Actionaid hunger free campaign, ACORD land rights and

gender related activities at national and regional level , colleagues and

partners working on gender justice and partner organisations working on

economic justice.

The person

A candidate envisaged for this role will hold a relevant qualification. Proven

commitment to women's rights and strengthening the land rights of people in

poverty, Knowledge of land and women's rights issues in Tanzania,

Experience of working on campaigns in Tanzania and/or other African

countries, Understanding of gender issues and analysis Good communication

skills, experience in event organising, Computer literacy, Fluency in written &

spoken English and Kiswahili, Proven ability in linking and networking with

broad spectrum of people and organisations.
