The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is one of the international agricultural research institutes organized under the umbrella of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR). The mandate of IFPRI is to identify and analyze alternative national and international strategies and policies for meeting world food needs in ways that conserve the natural resource base, with emphasis on low income and on the poorer groups in the countries.

The position: The Ethiopia Strategy Support Program II (ESSP II) under the Development Strategy and Governance Division of the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) is recruiting a Senior Communications & Survey Coordinator to join a small team of researchers working on country development strategy issues.

Main Duties:

Manages the implementation of field surveys including the training and supervision of enumerators and facilitators; coordinating all the necessary field logistics including accommodation, transport, etc., of the field team; maintains budgets, equipment and handling administrative issues required for successful field work
Coordinates the proper management of data, including proper storage, cleaning and preliminary analysis
Manages data access requests
In coordination with Senior Researchers assists in the development of survey questionnaires.
Plans and identifies requirements of manpower for surveys
Monitors data quality assessment.
Formats ESSP II research reports/outputs and various presentations to conferences and workshops/seminars.
Handles the design and manages the production of the Program’s newsletter and brochure
Participates and follows-up in the development of ESSP II log-frames relevant to Program activity reports to donors/stakeholders and high level policy makers.
Any other duties assigned by the supervisor/s

Minimum Requirement:

Education: BA degree in system analysis and design, Management Information System or other similar social science discipline

Experience:

Demonstrated skills and experience data collection and analysis.
Minimum of 2 years extensive experience working in research and development environment and handled survey logistics with broad partnership engagement, and management of a team

Training: Wide range of computer skills including working knowledge of SPSS

Skills:

Good organization skills and ability to communicate well orally and in writing
Ability to create relationships with various stakeholder groups
Ability to work under pressure to meet firm deadlines
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
Demonstrated initiative and ability to work independently and in a team environment

Duty Station: Addis Ababa.

Job Level: 2D.
Minimum Gross Monthly salary: Br. 10,710.00

Terms of appointment: Initial appointment is for two years with the possibility of renewal, contingent upon individual performance and the availability of funding.
