ENVIRONMENTAL OPERATIONS COORDINATOR – 1 POST

Based in North Mara, the successful person will among other things be dealing with the continuous improvement of the environmental management performance of our operation.

Reporting Line: Environmental Operations Superintendent Location: North Mara Mine Site

Work Schedule: Rotational Status (8 Weeks on 4 Weeks off) Duration: 24 months

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Give support and training about environmental procedures to the supervised operatives areas and ensure the implementation

• Participate in the identification and implementation of environmental requirements in the operation and upcoming projects

• Participate in the implementation of IS014001 in the supervised areas

• Evaluate the environmental performance index and establish targets for the supervised areas

• Plan and execute environmental inspections and risk analysis, keeping registers updated

• Supervise the accomplishment of environmental commitments related to legislation, permits obtained, Environmental Management Plans and internal and external auditory in the supervised areas

• Participate in the development, planning, organization and implementation of the environmental monitoring program

• Coordinate the application of corrective and preventive actions for impacts mitigation

• Support in the elaboration of Environmental Management Plans as well as Management of Change for all activities in the mine

• Lead a training program to ensure the implementation of internal and corporate environmental procedures in all the activities

• Support in the environmental monitoring program in the supervised areas

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful applicants must have the following qualifications/skills:

• Minimum Bachelor's degree in a relevant field

• Minimum 4 years supervising mining operations in similar positions

• Demonstrated experience and skills implementing environmental procedures and controls in mining operations and related projects preferably in CIL process and tailings facilities ,

• Demonstrated skills supervising field works :

• Good knowledge of IS014001 implementation requirements :

• Knowledge of relevant environmental international standards : and best practices for the mining industry specifically on operations required :

• Demonstrated skills in analysis, problem solving and lead by example

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required to train people, disclose information and coordinate field works.

• Demonstrated skills in the use of MS Office software and GIS (preferably).

• Excellent organisational and time management skills required to meet deadlines.
