Chief of Party, Tanzania
We are currently seeking a Chief of Party for an upcoming multi-year, USAID-funded program in Tanzania focused on increasing the productivity and competitiveness of the horticultural sector. The anticipated multi-million dollar project will build-on and coordinate with current agriculture-focused programming across Tanzania to increase the overall income and livelihoods of producers and agricultural market stakeholders. The Chief of Party will lead all aspects of project implementation, technical direction, and representation for the life of the project. The position is subject to ACDI/VOCA being awarded the program.
Responsibilities:
· Provide technical leadership, oversight and support to all aspects of the program
· Supervise all international and local project staff and consultants, providing operational and technical oversight and mentorship when appropriate
· Ensure quality and timeliness of all deliverables in line with set project timelines and objectives
· Prepare or supervise work plans and financial, M&E, logistical plans and other documents
· Review all financial and logistical information and reporting to ensure compliance with donor, organizational, and other stakeholder requirements
· Evaluate proposed staff and provide leadership and mentoring to senior-level managers
· Serve as principal liaison with USAID staff, government and private sector institutions, and client-country partners to exchange information and develop professional relationships
· Make verbal or written presentations to stakeholders at all levels
· Identify issues and risks related to program implementation in a timely manner and suggest appropriate program adjustments
Qualifications:
· M.S., M.B.A., or other post-graduate degree in agricultural economics, business administration or other relevant technical fields
· Minimum of 10 years of relevant and progressive work experience in Tanzania, East Africa, or other regions of Africa with a similar development context
· At least 5 years of Chief of Party experience
· Demonstrated knowledge and experience with strategies for improving horticulture production and developing market linkages
· Demonstrated history of providing highly effective technical and managerial leadership on sizable agriculture initiatives; specific horticulture project experience preferred
· Demonstrated experience with USAID regulations, procedures, protocols, and reporting requirements; Experience with USAID contracts preferred
· Familiarity with USAID grants programming and management
· Excellent communication, technical and reporting skills
· Fluency in English is required
