Background:
DAI is looking to work in Ethiopia to support economic growth by developing the private sector to create a business enabling environment which will help industries have access to both credit and finance. The objective is to create jobs whilst promoting green growth. A large emphasis will be supporting women and children in the marketplace. We will seek to address many issues which face Ethiopia and will look to strengthen exports, product diversification, competitiveness, productivity. In addition, we will focus on working with banks to build their capacity to provide loans and credit to emerging businesses.

Skills
- Addressing the SME finance gap
- Helping to develop a sustainable SME banking sector through capacity-building
- Deepen financial markets and stimulate competition in the SME banking sector
- Disseminating and adapting SME banking best practices and skills in banks in developing markets
Experience
- Master's degree (or equivalent) and at least 5 years of analytical/research experience in finance, economics, development or related area
- Led or played a significant role in SME banking projects with IFIs (e.g. IFC, EIB, KFW) or similarly structured projects in SSA, Ethiopia and agricultural lending experience highly desirable.
- Build bank capacities in credit analyses and credit policies and procedures as well as perience in at least two of the following: product development, marketing, credit policies/procedure, credit guarantee, value chain finance, training (human resources), risk management, credit scoring and MIS and training in these areas.
- Experience in mobile and/or branchless banking would be desirable
- Fluency in English (both written and oral) is essential
- Fluency in Amharic would be an advantage
