The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, non-denominational, development agency promoting creative and effective solutions to problems that impede social and economic development. AKF supports the Madrasa Early Childhood Program (MECP-Z), formally Zanzibar Madrasa Resource Centre, an Early Childhood Development (ECD) organisation, which implements programmes across Zanzibar. Having worked in Zanzibar for more than two decades and successfully implemented a community preschool model in 84 communities, MECP-Z – in collaboration with Ministry of Education and Vocational Training (MOEVT), AKF, and UNICEF – proposes to undertake a study to review the current MECP-Z model and recommend realistic, relevant, and appropriate ways to scale up the model to increase access to and quality of ECD across Zanzibar.
This is an announcement for a Request for Proposals by AKF to implement this research study in Zanzibar in collaboration with MECP-Z, AKF, UNICEF, and the MOEVT. The proposal should demonstrate: • be rigorous research approach • cost effectiveness • adherence to the highest standards of quality and ethical integrity, and • commitment to strict deadlines and deliverables
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications: • Master's degree or higher in ECD, Education, or related social science • Minimum seven years work experience in research and or education and international development • Proven experience in project management, design, and evaluation • Ability to mobilise and manage the human resource and logistics required to implement surveys and studies • Excellent time management and communication skills • Fluent in English is essential and good understanding of Swahili is desirable
