The Law School of Tanzania is a public institution established by an Act of Parliament, Cap.425, to provide practical legal training for law graduates aspiring to become legal practitioners.

CHIEF INTERNAL AUDITOR

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To monitor and evaluate the performance of the accounting functions of the school;
- To prepare and implement annual work plan;
- To liaise with External Auditors;
- To investigate and advise on effectiveness of internal controls;
- To advise the principal on the existing financial procedures and regulations;
- To evaluate and advise the efficacy of the existing financial regulations and policies used by the school;
- To evaluate and audit the performance and efficacy of stores and stocks;
- To carry our routine and special audit whenever necessary and report to the Governing Board;
- To advise the Deputy Principal of Finance and Administration on the soundness, adequacy and application of accounting and financial controls and ascertain the extent to which the School's assets are protected form losses arising form fraud, irregularities and corruption.
- To ascertain the extent of compliance with the prescribed plans, policies, procedures and financial regulations and check the accuracy of accounts and other data developed within the School.
- To perform any other functions as may be directed by the Governing Board or the Principal

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- CPA (T), CMA, and ACCA and has been registered with NBAA
- Possession of a Master degree will be an added advantage
- At least fifteen (15) years of working experience in a reputable organization


PRINCIPAL FIELD OFFICER

REPORTING: Reports to the Head - Practical Legal Training

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To approve plans and strategies for field placement
- To monitor and evaluate students' participation and progress in field placements;
- To oversee processes to assure the quality and standards of curricula, including assessment practice, performances and procedures, undertaking a review a least annually and reporting its finding to Principal;
- To ensure smooth running of the Practical Legal Education;
- To deal with complaints relating to practical training;
- To coordinate activities of field staff;
- To conduct research and consultancy of field practical's and related matter;
- To organize and conducting training programmes for field staff and students;
- To supervise and guiding junior field staff in execution of their tasks and
- To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Head-Practical Legal Training

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- At least an LL.M Degree from a recognized institution;
- Must be enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania;
- Experience in managing academic and professional programmes of not least than eight (8) years;
- Experience in research and consultancy activities of not less than six (6) years;
- Ability to relate to students and members of staff including problem management skills;
- Ability to supervise and coordinate the implementation of practical training programmers;
- Ability to deliver and evaluate practical training courses and;
- Self motivated and ability to work effectively and efficiently even under pressure

SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR II

REPORTING: Reports to Principal System Administrator I

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To analyses and design systems;
- To assists users in systems analysis and design;
- To up-dates exist systems;
- To assists in standard software installation;
- To assists in hard ware installation;
- To assists in trouble shooting and hardware-software problems.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent qualifications from recognized higher learning Institutions.
- At least three (3) years of working experiences from a reputable organization

DIRECTOR (FORENSIC AND DNA SCIENCE SERVICES DEPARTMENT)

DUTY STATION: HEAD OFFICE DSM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To facilitate analysis of seized materials to establish their nature/ identity;
- To facilitate toxicological analysis on different exhibits to establish cause of death or injuries;
- To facilitate DNA analysis on evidence, paternity and research samples;
- To supervise and approves the technical reports;
- To develop complete, up-to-date procedures manuals that are available and followed by all personnel performing tests;

DIRECTOR (PRODUCT QUALITY SERVICES DEPARTMENT)

DUTY STATION: HEAD OFFICE DSM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To analyze processed and unprocessed Food, drugs/ pharmaceuticals and their raw materials and Traditional medicine to establish their quality and safety;
- To perform Microbiological examination on different samples such as water, food, pharmaceuticals and their raw materials;
- To carry out analysis/tests of chemical and environmental samples;
- To carry out instrumental analysis of different samples and maintenance of instruments and equipment;
- To prepare of technical reports and provision of consultancy services in the fields of food, drugs, microbiology, chemical and environmental pollution;
- To develop and implement standard operating procedures;

- To assess and register chemicals, premises, facilities and chemical businesses;
- To promote compliance to the Industrial and Consumer Chemicals (Management and Control) Act No. 3 of 2003 ;
- To develop and maintain database of companies, chemicals and premises;
- To facilitate Inspection of all establishments where production, importation, storage and handling of chemicals are undertaken;
- To develop and assess Contingency Plans, Risk Assessment and Risk management programmes;

Maamuzi ya kesi ya LULU kusikilizwa Juni 16


 Msanii wa filamu nchini Elizabeth Michael a.k.a Lulu akiwa Mahakamani mapena leo wakati alipofika kusikiliza mashtaka yake yanayomkabili kuhusiana na tuhuma za mauaji ya msanii mwenzake,Marehemu Steven Kanumba
 Lulu akiwa mahakamani hapo.

Mahakama Kuu kanda ya Dar es salaam imepanga kutatoa uamuzi juu ya umri wa msanii wa filamu nchini Elizabeth Michael maarufu kwa jina la Lulu anayekabiliwa na kesi ya mauaji ya msanii mwenzake Steven Kanumba Aprili 7 mwaka huu.

Jaji Fauz Twaib leo alisikiliza mapingamizi ya mawakili wa serikali kuhusiana na maombi ya mawakili wanaomtetea Lulu waliyowasilisha mahakamani hapo kuiomba korti hiyo aidha ichunguze umri wa Lulu anayedai ana miaka 17 au iamuru mahakama ya kisutu kuchunguza.

Baada ya kuwasilishwa maombi hayo leo ilikuwa ni siku ya kusikilizwa maombi mahakamani ambapo wakili Shadrack Kimaro wa Serikali alipinga vikali maombi hayo kuwepo mahakamani hapo akidai kuwa hayakustahili kuwepo na badala yake yatupwe.

Alidai walichofanya ni kinyume cha sheria ilipaswa wakate rufaa kwasababu maombi yalishafika mahakama ya kisutu inakosikilizwa kesi hiyo na kutolewa maamuzi hivyo haikuwa sahihi kufungua maombi mapya wakati sio maombi mapya.

Aliwashauri mawakili wa Lulu aidha kukata rufaa maamuzi ya Kisutu au kuomba maamuzi yale kufanyiwa mapitio. Hata hivyo alidai kifungu cha sheria kilichotumika kuwasilisha maombi hayo sio sahihi ilipaswa kitumike kifungu ambacho kitaipa mamlaka korti hiyo kusikiliza maombi.

Mawakili wa Lulu, Furgence Masawe, Peter Kibatala na Kennedy Fungamtama hawakukubaliana na hayo,ambapo Fungamtama aliiomba mahakama kupokea maombi yao na kutolea uamuzi kwasababu ndiko maombi yao yanakotakiwa kupelekwa.

Aliusoma upya uamuzi uliotolewa Kisutu na kudai kuwa haukuwa uamuzi bali maelekezo ya mahakama na wao wamefata maamuzi hayo yaliyowataka kuwasilisha maombi yoyote Mahakama Kuu kwasababu mahakama ile haina mamlaka ya kusikiliza kesi ya mauaji.

Baada ya kusikiliza mabishano hayo ya kisheria mahakama hiyo imepanga kutoa maamuzi Juni 16 mwaka huu.

JOB PURPOSE: To ensure that the Business Enterprises Director , BE Managers and entire Business Enterprises Team is provided with appropriate reports, analysis, knowledge, skills and clear information on a timely basis to make informed business decisions.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Analyzing raw data that received from MIS/Finance & Marketing linking their performance against stated target and sharing with the team members.
Predicting Business Enterprises performance in terms of Revenue (Manual top up +post paid) and gross connections basing on the seasonality indexes as well as sales & marketing activities to be done.

Helping other team members on preparations of Business cases regarding to new project if arises, presentation preparations and other tasks.
Educational Qualifications & Technical Skills A University Degree in Statistics, Economics or B Com in Accounting or Marketing.

Computer Literacy particularly in Power Point & Excel.
Relevant Experience At least 3 yrs experience in similar position.

VACANCY

Lawyers' Environmental Action Team (LEAT) is a non-governmental and non-profit making  organization working to ensure equitable and sustainable management of natural resources in Tanzania. LEAT is the first and the only public interest environmental law organization in Tanzania. It carries out legal and policy research, advocacy, education and training, and engages in selected public interest litigation. Its membership is largely made up of lawyers concerned with environmental management and natural resources governance in Tanzania.

LEAT seeks an energetic, mature, non-partisan Tanzanian conversant with law and is computer literate, to fill in the following challenging position in our organization.

1. PROGRAM OFFICER – 1
The Program Officer will be responsible for:-
• Conducting research in the areas identified in LEAT's strategic and annual work plans;
• Analyzing data and keeping record of environmental, natural resources management and
human rights issues;
• Providing training on legal issues in general, and environmental and human rights law, in
particular to target groups as determined by LEAT;
• Preparing legal documents for use by the public and private institutions such as research
reports;
• Drafting legal opinions such as memoranda on particular legal issues requested by
communities or public institutions;
• Initiating plans, coordinating supervising and reporting on the implementation of
programs on legal issues in general, and environmental law, natural resources and human
rights issues, in particular;
• Advising the Executive Director on issues in general, and environmental law, natural
resources and human rights issues, in particular;
• Supervising assistant legal officers volunteering at LEAT;
• Building an internal and external network with other organizations involved in legal
issues in general, and environmental law, natural resources and human rights issues, in
particular;
• Assisting in fundraising for implementation of legal issues in general, and environmental
law, natural resources and human rights issues, in particular;
• Litigating for and on behalf of LEAT and its clients public interest cases;
• Ensuring that legal and human rights issues are addressed e.g. by lobbying with
government, Parliament and taking legal measures through the courts of law and carrying
out legal/policy research; and
• Undertaking any other duties assigned by the Advocates and the Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications:


University Degree in Law (LL.B.) from an accredited University.
Knowledge of environmental and natural resources laws will be an added advantage.
Three years working experience preferably in the field of environmental and natural
resources laws.
• Being registered as an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania will be an added
advantage.
• Sound knowledge and experience in fundraising, research, advocacy and report writing.
• At least two years experience working for non-governmental organizations.
• Fluent in English and Kiswahili languages.

Duration for the position

A one year contract, subject to a three months probation period will be given to a successful candidate.
Renewal of the contract will be on mutual agreement and based on work performance.

Remuneration
An attractive salary package will be offered commensurate with experience.
